Musings about Mystixx...

Current Mood : Enjoying this afternoon's playtime !

Current Image Notes : Hadda use clear elastics, but you can see the party-favor ‘Decomposition’ mini-notebooks are just about perfectly in scale for Frankie. The other books are in a box just like what I make for Howard’s dry cat food. His are, of course, bigger !

Homework already ??! (growlmutterwhine)
Yaay ! A seller on Monster High Marketplace  - an offshoot of the LJ MH group – offered  the one Sweet 1600 ‘gift’ dress I didn’t have and the skeleton one at a great price, and I still had a couple bucks…so they’ll be on their way to me soon ! I’ve seen that 1600 dress on Ghoulia, and it looks great.

Then, someone on the LJ group asked if we’d seen Playhut’s Mystixx Vampire dolls. Hmm ? Well, if imitation = sincere flattery, Monster High should be blushing. They’re available at TRU, but there’s no photos there. There’s also a website,  http://mystixx.com/, but it only shows artist renditions, possibly from very early in the process. Actual dolls don’t look a lot like the sketches, day or night.  Long-time MH fan *dms_a_jem* , also known as Cori, found and bought one, and graciously shares lotsa good photos on her photostream.

Not surprisingly, me likey. She bought the one I’d buy, the Ghoulia/Lagoona fusion Kalani. Photographed next to MH dolls, they appear to fit right in, if a bit taller. She reports and shows that their clothes fit fairly well, and the shoes can work if they’re forced a bit. Their big shtick, besides getting a doll, two outfits, two pair of shoes and two wigs for $20., is that they have two faces. One is an innocent schoolgirl’s, the other is a ‘scary’, more intense make-up vampire, complete with fangs. Of course, the face you don’t want to show is covered by your choice of wigs. They have a bit of backstory, that they’re regular girls (albeit royalty, nerd, girly, or outdoorsy types) during the day at school, and sexy vampires at night. All the boys love them, except for poor jealous Kalani. Hmpft.

Playhut, as their name suggests, mostly makes play tents – those pop-up wired ones with Kids Movie Of The Year and Barbie on them. No MH ones yet. (snerk) Despite a non-link on the bottom of the Mystixx page, playhut.com doesn’t even list them on their site. So, if you’re intrigued, you may wanna snag while the snagging’s good. If Mattel finds out, they may ask for them to be pulled. Then again, they haven’t so much as cough-insulted Bratzillaz yet, and if anyone’s on their radar, it’s MGA and any doll name that has a ‘Z’ in it.

Yaay ! Our hot water, that’s been off since mid-afternoon yesterday, is back ! I got dishes to do – hope your Wednesday was well !
