Since they took such good care of mine, I'm giving back a little of it . . .

Kind of a lazy day. I got all the VA hearts cut out before suppertime – had to rest my hands after two or three, so I’d do a few and take a break (usually involving laundry, which I was also doing at the time), come back to ‘em later. Clamped the snaps and added the split rings after supper, so, yaaaay, they’re done ! Hope the recipients like them !

Had to run out to get gas and Dearest Son’s lunch for tomorrow, plus cat food. He’s gonna hang with his grandparents, my ILs, while I’m at the VA, and they’re not known for having lunches he likes at their place. The IL’s needed cat food, and I found a small bag with a coupon – unfortunately, it rang up incorrectly and I didn’t catch it until we got home. I’ll probably check on it after my appointment. The cheese sampler held ‘Steakhouse Onion Gouda’ this week, and it was delicious ! I’m kind of hoping they have that out tomorrow, too. . .

I am sooo gonna sew this weekend. . .

It may be Christmas at DTree, but I'm sewing hearts at Chez Insanity !

Our Dollar Tree has gone full-tilt Christmas now that Halloween is over – has yours ? There was one shopping cart fulla half-price candy, and another of last year’s Christmas decorations and flowers, but the Autumn-themed merchandise seems to have vanished. Oh, I did find one end-cap of felt leaves, dishtowels, and paper napkins, but that was it. Wall-to-wall Christmas a gondola or two past where the Halloween stuff was. There were even a couple Santa Mylar balloons inflated and hovering. We’re kinda broke for the next week or two, so I didn’t look much, but I saw three different Frozen Santa hats and enough ornaments to do up a dozen trees in double-glitter shiny.

Snagged two bags of Russel Stover caramel-filled chocolate pumpkins from the half-off cart – delicious, but there’s only three in the bag. At least six for a buck wasn’t too bad. Got a set of three red jute-handled gift bags there, too. Although I only need one to take the heart keychains to Friday’s ICD appointment, I’m sure the other two will find uses eventually. Speaking of which, I gotta get going on those keychains. . .

Our Library system’s ‘Food for Fines’ starts Sunday, and I’ve already amassed enough “non-perishable, non-dented, not expired” foodstuffs to equal my indiscretions and a couple extra, to fill up the box and not look like a cheap jerk. Sad that the Library has to spell out the terms like that – and limit it to $20. in fines. Mine’s less than half that.

UPDATE : All the heart keychains are stitched out ! Only took four hours to make all twelve, and that was with dinner and several long breaks. All I have to do tomorrow is cut them out and attach the snaps. Yaaay !

Taco Tuesday !

Whoooo, me ?
Yup, that was the excitement for the day – I made tacos for supper. At least there’s never any leftovers on that meal. Except the refried beans, I’m the only one who eats those anyway.

My rump is back on the draggin’ wagon, I kept waking up all last night and was so tired this morning, I let the Pumpkin Spice coffee Beloved Hubby got me get cold. He was over-tired, too. Even with a two hour nap and a shower, and some warmed up PSpice, I really didn’t wanna do Game Day – but that’s about Dearest Son, not me. He’s perfectly fine, so of course, he wanted to go. So we did. Other moms actually chatted with me a bit, so it wasn’t too bad, and Dearest got his social time, which is why we go in the first place. So, yeah, like most things, once it got going, it was better than expected.

Scored several embroidery design freebies today, and there’s at least a dozen good sales going on. I only scarfed up the freebies I truly liked, there were far more out there for free today than I snagged, but I was too tired to even download and store the ones that struck me as ‘meh’. I’m even less interested in the sales. I got dozens of designs and patterns I’m too tired to mess with, and we’re in a lean week, so even window-shopping steals and deals is met with a yawn and a wish to go back to sleep.

Had one of ‘those days’ at the local grocery. Had to jerk to a stop several times ‘cause others were too busy texting or reading their phones to pilot their shopping carts. Then, after I waited my turn to pick through the markdown bins, I moved to share the space with another shopper – who promptly pushed me out of the way with her cart and took over the whole space until she was done. That’s OK, really – I already know half her selections taste terrible, and at least two were dented, ‘cause they were there last week. Plus, the butcher put out some great stuff after she left. And she’s probably deaf because my ‘excuse me’ protest fell on stone ears. Her life must really rank. Meanwhile, I have enough markdown ham for Beloved’s lunches for at least a month !

Gotta get crackin’ this week if I’m to have all those heart keychains ready for my ICD appointment at the VA Friday morning. Guess what I’m up to tomorrow, after a quick run to Dollar Tree ?

Frozen clones - DP & M size !

Of course, now I'm wondering if their shoes will fit FT Frankie . . .
Still adjusting to the new times, especially when it’s midnight-dark at 6am, but all the calendars and clocks are caught up !

Spent a good chunk of the day tidying up from the weekend – piles of dishes and dirty pots and pans, and the Arena was a wreck, too. The Arena gets cleaned more often ‘cause I need the space to craft more, plus I can do that sitting down, watching crappy daytime TV. I can’t wait ‘til we ditch cable next month !

Not surprisingly, the Mal-Wart knockoff DP&M dolls are much smaller than their inspiration. Gonna re-dress the one I got from the thrift last week and donate her. I could alter the dress to fit, but it’s even lower quality than most of my fumbling attempts. Speaking of lowered quality, today’s photo comes from the local Dollar General. Of course, they’re right next to and above a ton of licensed products and smaller Mattel dolls. Considering going back for the Elsa lip balm, I hardly ever use the stuff, but winter’s coming, and the packaging’s cute.

Precious little else going on, hoping to sew a little bit tonight. Nothing elaborate, wanna try creating a simple straight skirt for FT Frankie. Doing so for the DP&M girls was easy, doing the same for the swayback MH body is gonna be a challenge !

Happy November ! Check out my new Christmas ornaments !

Happy November, and Daylight Whatever here in the States. It was nice to wake up to an ‘extra’ hour, but I’ve been off all day because of it. Was expecting this morning’s glucose levels to be sky-high after all that holiday candy last night, but it was only ten points higher than yesterday’s first reading.

That said, I ended up at Mal-Wart and secured approximately seven pounds of markdown candy for $6. Thing is, I wasn’t even there for the sugar rush, I wanted to use my first-of-the-month funds to snag those two Elsa ornaments I liked, before they sold out or I forgot. They only had two left of each. Then I realized it was not only the day after a ‘eat all the things’ holiday, but it was Sunday – yikes ! I figured it’d be a war zone, but nope. The costumes and clothes were in one section, the candy and edibles were in two others. I got gourmet candy corn, Halloween-themed salt water taffy, and two bags of fun-size decadence, skipped on the props and makeup. And I got my new Frozen ornaments. Also a free sample of a Fuji apple – delicious !

Wandered around a bit, decided to get one more Frozen and Star Wars fat quarter, as I’d already seen how pricey a yard of those stuffs were at Hancock Fabrics Friday. Not much new in Toys, but I had fun looking around. Snagged the soda Beloved Hubby favors and a day-old loaf of Italian bread and headed out.

I was bending to slide into Emmy-car’s seat when a grackle landed on her hood, tilted his/her head to one side, and let out the long half whistle, half car alarm call that’s heard repeatedly from every parking lot in this town all day long, especially in hot summer days with few puddles. He/She reminded me of the way Junior-requests / demands food, and I laughed. Then I opened up the Italian bread and fed some birds. It wasn’t long before I had a flock of grackles, sparrows, and blackbirds, all trying to scarf up as much as possible. I fed them five slices before I noticed they were more interested in intimidating each other than eating – there was still bread on the ground – and headed out. I’ll have to bring day-old bread out to the parking lot more often ! Or invest in some bird seed.
